Breast rash - What are the causes?

Breast rash
Breast rash means redness and irritation of the skin on your breast. It can be itchy, scaly, painful or blistered. It’s also known as breast dermatitis and hives.
Most causes are same as any other rash. But in some cases it occurs only on breast.

Causes

Following conditions can cause on breast only

Breast abscess
breast abscess is a localised collection of pus in the breast tissue. It is usually caused by a bacterial infection. Breast infections, including mastitis andbreast abscesses, are most often seen in women aged 15 to 45 years.

Inflammatory breast cancer
Inflammatory breast cancer is a rare type of breast cancer that develops rapidly, making the affected breast red, swollen and tender.
Mammary duct ectasia
when a milk duct beneath your nipple widens, the duct walls thicken and the duct fills with fluid. The milk duct may become blocked or clogged with a thick, sticky substance. The condition often causes no symptoms, but some women may have nipple discharge, breast tenderness or inflammation of the clogged duct (periductal mastitis).

Mastitis
An infection in breast tissue that most commonly affects women who are breast-feeding)

Nipple dermatitis
Skin conditions such as eczema or dermatitis may occur on the nipple and the areola, the flat coloured part around the nipple. These problems are more common in women who tend to be allergic (eg. have known eczema, asthma or hay-fever), or who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Irritant contact dermatitis is caused by inflammation of the skin by products such as shampoos, soap, washing detergents or chemicals. Allergic contact dermatitis is a true allergy to a product used on the skin.

Paget's disease of the breast
It's a rare form of breast cancer. Paget's disease of the breast starts on the nipple and extends to the dark circle of skin (areola) around the nipple. Paget's disease of the breast isn't related to Paget's disease of the bone, a metabolic bone disease.

General causes of rash that can affect any part of the body, including the breast, include:

Atopic dermatitis (eczema)
Skin condition caused by any allergy. This condition makes your skin red and itchy. It's common in children but can occur at any age. Atopic dermatitis is long lasting (chronic) and tends to flare periodically. It may be accompanied by asthma or hay fever.

Candidiasis under the breasts
This condition makes your skin red and itchy

Dermatitis
This condition makes your skin red and itchy

Hives and angioedema
Hives — also known as urticaria (ur-tih-KAR-e-uh) — is a skin reaction that causes itchy welts, which can range in size from small spots to large blotches several inches in diameter.
Angioedema is a related type of swelling that affects deeper layers in your skin, often around your face and lips. In most cases, hives and angioedema are harmless and don't leave any lasting marks, even without treatment.

Psoriasis
Psoriasis is a common skin condition that speeds up the life cycle of skin cells. It causes cells to build up rapidly on the surface of the skin. The extra skin cells form scales and red patches that are itchy and sometimes painful.

Scabies
Scabies is an itchy skin condition caused by a tiny burrowing mite called Sarcoptes scabiei. Intense itching occurs in the area where the mite burrows.
